I finally got around to buying a new set of tyres for my fixie; you may recall the one on the back was rather the worse for wear, and I had to rather hurriedly replace it with whatever I could get at the time.

Some cosmically twisted soul has stolen my old bike and condemned himself to bad kama for the next two lifetimes! That's their problem, mine is thinking about a new dream machine.

I've been thinking seriously about a folding bike that would also give me a good touring base and the BIRDY seems to be coming up as a real alternative.

Are there any Birdy owners out there with comments (positive or negative) to make about them?

It has now has been over 5 years and at least 30,000 kms on the Kona DrFine.

Since my last update over 12 months ago I have had to have a rear wheel build (the 2nd) and a drive train rebuild i.e. chain ring, chain and rear sprocket. I don't seem to be replacing bottom brackets as much as I used to but it still requires regular tightening and greasing to prevent creaky cranky cranks.

More recently my Light n Motion Urban 550 front light packed in. Won't charge anymore.…
