Not going to be the first time in history that those sentiments have been expressed. I'm sure future generations will rise to the occasion. Not to say that we should be heading in that direction.

I actually believe there's a lot of R&D around and that the patents for oil free transportation are largely bought and owned by oil companies.

Thanks, they all seem petty and trivial, just surprised anyone gives him a presence in an on-line publication. (I didn't realise this had been covered before, I better try to work out how to search more thoroughly).

Not a mention of water in that discussion. If we are to produce ethanol for fuel, there will be competition for water between the ethanol producers & the food producers. As odd as it may sound right now, with Sydney's weather,…

Yep. They always wear that bias. Worst thing is that as we know media outlets are supposed to report stuff. Not create waves against. The common good. No matter your stance, cycling is good for everyone short and long term..

Ignore it, all the stories are by the one crank, Brian Noad aka "The Nichols Street Community Group". He is bit of a repeat offender for that sort of thing.

I was wondering whether e-bikes might be better getting power from a small stirling engine rather than a weighty battery The point being you can run a stirling engine on any heat source, so could burn waste veg oil directly, just filtered, no need…

some discussion about it here, abc It looks like grain for cattle is part of it, and as someone who refuses grain fed meat I don't care about that. But I do care about the grain for people of course. I wonder how much food does get diverted…

While it's definitely a truth that MHL did not / does not have a nett positive safety effect in Australia, and it's very possibly a truth that helmets don't do much, other then providing people with an evelated sense of security. But…

St Bogan Day eve ride

Posted by yogi on January 26, 2012 at 11:45am 4 Comments

So I was housebound for a few to many days and the only time I went outside I got wet so it was Wednesday night and just past 9 pm and a looked outside to see a wet road and stars. ...

I bid my wife goodnight and put on a double layer of lycra and my work shorts (my normal cycling pants) and went for a ride. I went towards Bondi  Beach form just south along the ridge and then turned though the hills of Paddington to find hardly any cars on the road at all. weaving the hills and…

Magpies

For those who become concerned with bombing Magpies. Out of season now, of course, but try this next bombing season.

Maggies, being birds, have light, hollow bones.  They make their living flying and they will not risk these bones lightly.  Do you ever see Magpies having mid air collisions or banging into things?

The next time a Maggie bombs you, start to count.  When you reach 5, shoot one arm up in the air.  A Magpie must gain elevation before his/her next strafing run.  This…

Thank you Sydney traffic!

I don’t know if it was down to it being Friday and everyone being a little chilled out for the weekend. I don’t know if it was because decent human beings in their cars behaving like caring members of a society felt they needed to make up for some of the more boorish (and well publicised, oft discussed) driver behaviour that has come to light.

I don’t know if it was because I radiate sweetness and light as I glide along on my trusty Giant (I kind of doubt it was this, it’s hard to…
