Since 1862 the Necropolis at Rookwood has operated as a multicultural and multifaith wonder of Sydney. On this ride Dr Chris Hartney from the University of Sydney will explain aspects of the history of this vast and beautiful cemetery as well as describe the religious conceptions of death that lay behind the rituals, tombstones and buildings in this incredible. but often forgotten part of our city.
Cycle on the Cooks River Valley Cycleway to Rookwood and return, or catch the train home from Lidcombe station
Start and finish: Tempe Station carpark, Richardsons Cres, Tempe
Time: 8.45am for a 9am start
Return approximately 2pm
