Great pics, Jason. The Fence Incident was a crack up :-) Anyone who was looking for another ride before the R2R, Aaron has posted one for 1st May.

Yes, there are 2 time cut-off points.
- At 57km mark, after 10am, the Left hand turn option at Oakville RFS will be closed. This is the dividing point (on the second loop) between the 100 and 80km rides. All riders will be directed on to the 80km route. You would need to average 23+ kmph to get in before this cutoff for the 100km route.
- At 47km mark, and also after 10am, all riders will be directed to turn left into Rouse Rd from Windsor Rd (instead of continuing up Windsor Rd for the 80 & 100km routes). This will mean these riders will complete the 55km route. You will need to have averaged 19+ kmph to have reached this point before 10am

My average speed last Sat was just below MBs...Like MB, I'm quite capable of doing the 80 (and 100km) routes, but would have to settle for the 55km route time-wise on the day.
We may extend these cut-off time a little, but not by too much.

We are an innovative lot aren't we. I noticed a few sets of tyre marks coming back from the second barrier. We are still negotiating the opening of this section & hope to have it done well before the ride.
Most of you are well aware of your capabilities. It is a challenging course, but we would much rather you go out & have a pleasant ride around this very scenic route that bust a boiler doing more than you should.
We do plan to have mid ride time limits where you will be directed to shorter legs of the ride at certain points if you haven't arrived by a certain time. If you wish to complete your ride after that time, we will ask you to surrender your number & advise that you are no longer considered to be part of the event from the organisers point of view. You will still be eligible to attend the after ride meal at Riverstone when you arrive ( provided it is still there after the ravenous hoardes have arrived before you.)

If there is going to be a time cut-off, I won't do the 100km. If the time allowed is longer, I would like to do the 100km. Some of us are built for endurance, not speed. But I understand keeping the volunteer support crew on duty for too long may be an imposition we want to avoid.

From memory, the Tour de Hills cuts off at 1:00 pm with the same start time for the 100k. I remember having a puncture once and getting picked up by the sag wagon at 1:00 with only about 5k to go (to be honest it was bloody hot and I wasn't at all unhappy)

We probably expected the bulk of the ride to be over 30,55 & 80ks, with the 100 ks being for the really fast riders. It is a challenging 100ks & to do it in 4.5 hrs would need an overall average of 22.2 Km/h. Take half an hour out for a break & you need to ride at a 25.5 ave. My time yesterday for a riding average was way down at 16.5kph& my riding average around 13kph, so I would be well & truly swept before even finishing 60ks. Certainly worth thinking about before commiting to a distance or setting a goal.

Yes,I can't speak for the fast fit riders, but I don't think the average rider will be finished 100km by 12. I reckon, even with a 7.30 start, I will finish the 100km at about 3-ish (not before) and I won't be the slowest.

Yesterday, it took the 'faster group' just over 5hrs to finish the 80km, but that was because we had a few problems with the route (took a couple wrong turns, issues with jumping fence, etc). we also had a couple of pit stops. Provided that all those issues are resolved for the event, and a shorter break is taken, i rekon 100km in 4.5 hrs could be achieved...
