All sealed roads (unless tempted to take some short cuts). Verges on one road a bit gravelly, but fine if you stay in the lane. Also a few kms of paved shared path which did have some debris from a flooding creek last time I rode it, but hopefully cleared by now :) The route has been designed with road bikes in mind.

Hey all, i was wondering how long the 80km ride is expected to take...im just interested in knowing what sorta ride im in for...in terms of average speed and all, and approximately what time we'll be finished.
cheers :)

Thanks Rob, looks like I get to test out my new detonator tyres then.
Based on the 80Kms, I'm guessing we should be all done & dusted in 4 hrs, but I've not covered this terrain so it might take a bit longer?
For those catching a train from the East, can I suggest getting off at Meadowbank station then following the Parra River in to Parra. According to bikely it's under 12 kms station-to-station.

Ofcourse, that means for a total return trip of 24kms, you will have made a century for the day which is no mean feat.

Is there anywhere I can park my car safely at Riverstone Vet Hospital?

Re Parking : There's a parking bay at the side of the vet's in Richards Ave. There's also a driveway (Accessible from Richards Ave) leading into the enclosed backyard, with parking for a number of vehicles. I imagine Geoff will make the yard available to riders.

As I'll be averaging less than 20kmph for the ride, I thought I'd give those that wanted to go faster the option of doing a 'self guided' ride. The following word document contains maps & cue sheets for the ride.

Is anyone going to be planning to go on ahead, 'self guided'?

I'll stay with RobK :)

At this stage, my wife Dale, 2-3 guys from work and I will be attending, couple of racing bikes, couple of flat bars and a LHT. We normally average between 25-30, so thanks for the directions, we'll all catch up when we get lost! It will be nice to meet everyone too!
Bloody trains, they had trackwork the last 2 Spring Cycles, making it difficult for a lot of people to get to the Blacktown (Rooty Hill) start...
