Easy-paced scenic social ride Approx. 12 to 15km (depending on any detours we may take). Focus is on a lovely afternoon in town rather than long ride.
Planned destinations include:
Meet at 11:30am at:
- The Sydney Town Hall for 12:00noon start.
- The Lord Nelson (for a sample of fine ale)
- Sydney Fish Markets (for some lunch)
- Darling Harbour, through to;
- Pyrmont, back through;
- Glebe, past;
- Victoria Park (next to Sydney University)
- Central Railway Station and to;
- Hyde Park.
No planned schedule as such, but expecting that we'll have afternoon tea along the way somewhere and finish up maybe around 4pm or 5pm - maybe later if we decide to hang around or have dinner together.
- Possible extension into the Domain and then around to Circular Quay for Ice-creams (would make ride about 4 to 5km longer).
Please bring your retro-styled or vintage bicycle. If you do not have a retro-styled or vintage bicycle, please wear retro-vintage clothing. It is expected that this will be a fairly slow and leisurely ride probably not averaging much more than 10 to 15kph. (Probably in the saddle for about 30 minutes then off doing something for 30 minutes and off again)
The anticipated route will tend towards the use of quieter streets, bicycle lanes and cycle-ways where possible, but expect there to be some on-road cycling. It's on a Sunday afternoon, so hopefully the traffic will be much calmer than is usual for Sydney.
Bring your camera and take pictures. We should be passing lots of scenic areas. (Dare I say it, this event may turn out to be a bit touristy).
Interested riders please RSVP here to give an idea of numbers (hoping to keep it small and informal) If you have any questions please go to: Vintage and Retro Bicycle Enthusiasts page and feel free to post a question.
Please note that this is an un-supported ride. By attending, you agree to accept sole responsibility for yourself, obey all relevant laws, road rules, etc, exercise common sense and whilst we expect everyone to be courteous, there is no duty-of-care on anyone's part.
