Event Description

See this link for full route details on the bikely site, or this Word document for a printable version of the maps, cue sheets & info from the above bikely site.

I'm planning a one-way 4 day tour from Rooty Hill to Canberra (well, Mitchell actually), to attend the National Folk Festival over Easter. Overnight stays are planned for Bargo, Marulan & Collector. Pubs are available in each of these towns, however the pub in Marulan only has two rooms, so numbers that can stay there are limited. I've also listed camping & other accommodation options in these and other towns along the route.
Distance traveled on each of the first 3 days is around 90 km, with a shorter day into Canberra. Where possible I've tried to stay off busy roads. There is a total of around 24 km of unsealed roads over the route (~8 km on Day 3 and 16 km on Day 4).

I'm now planning to start the ride on Sunday April 5th. You're also welcome to join in if only able to do part of the route.

Participants at present:

Me (!!) - Riding 4 days and then Folk Festival in Canberra;
Caroline - Riding days 2,3 & 4 & then Folk Festival in Canberra;
Michael R - Riding day 1 & 2
Kerry D - Might ride part of Day 2.

Please Note:

- Camping at Exhibition park in Canberra is only open to Folk Festival season ticket holders. The Canberra Carotel camping area is only a short distance further on.
- The ride as outlined is only one way (I'm not riding back immediately after Easter). Options for getting back to Sydney include
(a) Catching a train from Canberra, although you'd need to box your bike,
(b) Riding back to Goulburn, where you could wheel your bike onto one of the infrequent trains, or
(c) Make other arrangements.
- I'll probably take another bag of clothes etc down to Canberra a week or so before the ride. I'm happy to take some stuff for others too.
- I'll probably do a few morning rides around Canberra over the Easter period. Others are welcome to join in.

Call Rob on (02) 9864 8797 or email robkemp@tpg.com.au if interested in joining in. On ride contact - 0415 902 708.

HI CTA,
After thinking a bit further, I think I'll leave on the Sunday. This gives us an extra day up our sleeves in case we get delayed (and if we don't then we get into Canberra in time to get a good camping spot!). Feel free to catch the train to Bargo or a bit further down the line and join us then.....
