is appalling and I hope someone got the drivers rego number, but what really irked me is that it turned into a 'have a go and Ben Kersten' story at the end. . .'blasted (by Ryan Bayley) for dirty riding' what's the relevance of that. . .where's a good editor when you need one? and shouldn't the headline be "mown' down to ensure a grammatically correct, although factually inaccurate (according to the actual story) attention grabbing headline?

The headline has now been changed to "Road rager takes out Aussie cycle champ pack", and a request for more information added to the story.
I agree about the poor quality of the story, and the failure to discuss road safety and road rules. Perhaps they will continue to change the story, not just the headline?

I am wondering if the Sopranos attitude towards cycling and cycling facilities is encouraging this sort of behaviour from motorists? Maybe Critical Mass is not such a "Goon Event" after all!
I have heard of a similar incident in Bathurst where the sweep who was able to remain up right took a photo of the cars rego and took it to the police. The driver pleaded guilty and copped fines etc

And now the headline has changed again..... "Angry driver takes out 50-strong cycle pack", and there's anew photo!
The actual story hasn't been changed though:(

Well thankfully its now a front page headline and the story is a load better...here
No reason they couldn't have done it better in the first place of course, maybe it was a cadet!

The thing that got me was "A perfect example of the enmity were the jeers and taunts of several drivers (more than 3 separate drivers that I noticed) making their way past the aftermath of the accident, despite the fact that a police car and two ambulances were on the scene treating seriously injured people."
The driver is apparently known to police and looks like he will be charged although even if he did get suspended from driving it is unlikely to prevent him from driving.
