For the record: Many experienced urban fixed geared riders become so accustomed to using their leg muscles and body weight transfer to slow down that they never use rim or disk brakes. If they continue riding fixed and getting new bikes they simply end up having bikes with no brakes.
The problem occurs when people try and mimic such riders. Thats why the rules re: bikes needing brakes apply to everyone.

And no i don't ride a fixed gear.
Permalink Reply by timothy.clifford on June 29, 2012 at 1:01am And this monkey does. And it took a lot of practice. And I'm even close to good, my legs get sore and tired, so those front and rear brakes are staying on my fixie. At least until I give in to the urge to constantly turn left.
