This is normal. Move along. Nothing to see. I like to think of it as everyday casual terrorism.

I was not aware that we had self driving SUV's on the roads, most coverage I've seen indicates there was no driver. The SUV did it all.


Or the one where the driver used the car as a weapon and no one bats an eye.

Millions of fines handed out to car drivers each year, hundreds of people killed, thousands injured,  but it's the cyclists who almost invariably hurt nobody except themselves who are the arseholes on the street.


If people are not allowed to be victims, they will be required to take responsibility. People don't want to take responsibility for the death and terror that is caused by them driving their cars. Just like they'd rather be a victim of traffic congestion instead of holding themselves responsible for their contribution (while sitting in their car)

It will be ironical if this incident and the murderous one earlier this year in Melbourne results in the removal of motor vehicles from Oz CBD's in order to protect people from terrorism. We may well end up with "walk" streets like Europe where bikes and peds intermingle safely! 

A few months ago I was in Taiwan and each night went out to dinner where one or two people would be driving home afterwards. They essentially drank nothing and there was a discussion about the magnitude of fines. The fines are massive.  Being over .05 sets you up for a fine of $3,600.

In the UK, driving or attempting to drive whilst above the legal limit or unfit through drink carries a maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment, a fine of up to £5,000 and a minimum twelve months' disqualification. For a second offence committed within ten years of conviction, the minimum ban is three years. Being in charge of a vehicle whilst over the legal limit or unfit through drink could result in three months' imprisonment plus a fine of up to £2,500 and a driving ban.

Lots of countries have lower blood alcohol levels than in Australia. Some totally ban it eg Hungary.

Colombia is known to have the toughest penalties against those driving under the influence in all of Latin America and practice a zero tolerance policy on DUIs. If a driver is found to be driving with 20–39 mg/100 ml ethanol in blood (equivalent to 0.02–0.039% BAC), the driver is to have their license suspended for a year, pay a fine of US$914 (as of 22 December 2013), and serve twenty hours of community service. In the most extreme cases, if a driver is found to be driving with grade three alcohol (150 mg/100 ml ethanol in blood), the driver is to have their licence confiscated for ten years, pay a fine of US$7,314 (as of 22 December 2013), and serve fifty hours of community service. If the driver gets in an accident and causes injuries and or deaths, the driver is to face between 2.5 and eighteen years of prison sentence 

Now we know why everyone is trying to get in to Australia, it isn't because Australia is any better than any other country, we just allow people to do whatever they want without consequences.

In addition to the 13 fatalities, there have been 868 major crashes, 564 drink-driving charges, and more than 11,000 speed infringements during the operation.

Is it actually safe to get on the roads even? It sounds like  roving gangs of illegal and dangerous drivers have taken over... or is it just normal driver behaviour?

When protecting people from drivers is important enough

NSW, 2017, 383 people have died as a result of them (or others) utilising motor vehicles. A commercially available product, through its use (or misuse) has ended the lives of 383 in NSW alone in just one year. With that in mind, I decided to do a quick search for: recalled after a person died in NSW. The majority of results were regarding a faulty airbag that may have contributed to the death of 1 man. At the end of the second page of results (pages full of the airbag recall), there was a link to an Ikea recall for some drawers, noting that the drawers had fallen onto or contributed to the death of 8 children worldwide.

So how is it that deaths resulting in the use of commercial products usually result in recalls very early on in the body count, yet when we talk about deaths caused by motor vehicles (a commercially available product), we shrug our shoulders and accept it.

Of note, is the Ikea recall was due to the product being unstable when used in accordance with the instructions - could we not say the exact same thing of cars? For how often do we hear that "the driver had lost control" of their motor vehicle - the end result usually being that someone is dead. Surely if these commercial products are so unstable that the operators can lose control so easily, why are they not recalled? Or is it simply that it is fine for the product to be dangerous, as long as the manufacturers state that "operating this product at full design capacity will likely result in injury or death". Perhaps Ikea could have avoided the recall if they had simply stated "Utilising this product with 2 metres of children may result in death".

Average speed of traffic in Sydney is around 20 - 30Km/h. Perhaps that should be the maximum a car can go.

Isn`t all motor vehicles illegal in Australia? There`s maximum speed of 110kph in all states except in A.C.T of 100kph and in N.T of 130kph in 4 highways.

Why do those bloody motor vehicle makers put the high speed speedometer in polluting motor vehicles?

Those motor vehicles with higher than the stated speedometer of maximum speed in Australia should be crushed immediately as it encourages high speed on roads that have no right to use it on public roads.

All high speed motor vehicles should belongs on motor racing tracks and not on public roads like those effing F1 races, formerly of Sydney races and now at Newcastle. Due to encouraging hoon drivers on public roads with no regards to public safety.

So it is the politicians fault to permit the high speed vehicles on roads with higher speedometer than stated maximum speed on roads in Australia.

And why do they sell more SUV for use in city roads and never use it for off road uses and should be banned from 1 km near schools due to restricticted visibility,

Damn, those bloody politicians, police and RMS (ServicecrapNSW).
