I too, since it is faster to cycle from Parra to North Ryde than to suffer the 3 train legs.
Snowy, this link might be of interest. The works involve 160 metres.
Thanks for the link, Russ.
There is an additional missing link at the Subiaco creek end of this section behind the intersection of Clyde and South streets. When completed, there will be an almost completely traffic free cycle link between Parramatta and Meadowbank which also connects up with Bicentennial Park and Olympic Park.
Now that will be something special and could be a great ride in what currently is a pretty scary void of safe-ish routes
This is amazing ..... fencing correctly angled! For years / decades planners and their documents angled fencing in the opposite manner, effectively narrowing the facility as well as being an excellent attractor of handlebars. Clearly, progress is being made! Also, good to see there's no extended throw-avoidance fencing (not too many cars travelling in the creek below!) ..... we're probably still the only state that incorporates this mostly unnecessary additional cost ..... oops, I see something in the distance!
I did this ride yesterday and this dead end is STILL a dead end. When is it going to be continued?
saw the other article that this cycle way was nominated for awards. Up until 2 years ago I used to head this way regularly and over the gas bridge into parramatta, so I went just now to take a look. I came back wondering what was the point, seems like a waste of money, if gains you about 2 blocks along south street, and the raised section goes nowehere. Maybe it is part of a plan to eventually join up but so far it's money that would have been better spent elsewhere
The then Fed's (Labor) did allocate funds to cycling unlike the latest lot run by a cycling PM that won't even put money into public transport!
It will join up. I have seen the plans at Parra Council and they have drawn an unbroken line of off-road riverside path from here to Parramatta Stadium. All that they need is the money.
