Cycling in Sydney Australia

Bike North received the following advice from Transurban warning cyclists about resurfacing in the next three months:

The following advice is from Transurban, operators of the M2 motorway.

During July, August and September 2009, Hills M2 will be resurfacing areas of the motorway to ensure it offers a smoother ride for all motorway users.

The road work will commence on Sunday 12 July and will occur at night Sunday to Friday from 9pm to 5am. On certain dates, the works will include traffic lane closures and the closure of motorway on and off-ramps.

Cyclists are urged to exercise caution as the resurfacing works will, at times, create an irregular road surface. Cyclists who use the motorway breakdown lane are advised to visit www.hillsm2.com.au to plan their trip.

The management of Hills M2 apologise for any inconvenience caused during this essential maintenance work. Cyclists can forward any enquiries or feedback to enquiries@hillsm2.com.au

I had a look at the website, and it seems the works are limited to the major on/off ramps, and will happen after 9pm each night.
Pity, I was hoping they would be smoothing out the surface along the breakdown lanes. it can be pretty rough going at times, especially the exit to Delhi Rd when heading into the city!
