Permalink Reply by Deanoz on December 14, 2010 at 2:21pm Hey guys,
So it has been a good month or two and im doing really well. Sometimes finding it a little hard to keep on track but im still keeping it right.. Riding alot and on every weekend as a must! I sold my car aswell and bought the misses a new one.. So my hobby of modifying cars etc has ended and i find myself buying bike stuff...
last week i did a 25km run in wetherill park. (I believe this is the old dam passageway which has been turned into a walkway) Did this in 2 hours ... I had a mate with me with his racing bike and i felt good keeping up with him.. Problem was i pushed a little too hard and bent the front kogg. (not sure the name) But the bike shop has fixed it all up and its running real good again...At this point i have lost 9kgs and going strong.. I feel great!

....be warned, it is a very slippery slope. It starts out very simply ("Oh, I need a water bottle holder"), and before you know it you are saying things like "I NEED new wheels"...."I NEED a lighter frame"...and then finally, "I NEED another bike!" :-)
Congrats on your weightloss. Stick with it and the weight will keep coming off. I started riding in August 2008 @ 98kg. I now weigh 82kg and I am fitter now than I was in high school! I have just been on the Sunshine Coast for a holiday, and I took the bike with me. I cycled the 135km from Caloundra to Noosa and back, making it my longest single ride ever!
Great stuff Deanoz, it's great to hear of your progress. One tip which may be of use, the number of calories you burn is much more closely related to how far you travel than to how hard you ride. Try to take it easy to the point where it is genuinely enjoyable and you will be able to (and want to) go much further.......
Look forward to hearing your updates.
KC.

Ditto what Paul said. And soon you'll find yourself looking at online porn ... bike porn that is.
One of my favourite bike sayings is "the ideal number of bikes to own is n + 1 where n is the number of bikes you currently own".
All good. :-)
