As part of improving connectivity and celebrating the Parramatta River, the City of Parramatta is designing a new world class pedestrian and cyclist bridge over the Parramatta River at Alfred Street, Rosehill.
We are inviting you to provide feedback and comments on the concept design by the 28th of October. Community support for the project will greatly assist Council in advocating to potential funding partners for its construction. This project will unlock pedestrian and cycling movement in the area, link precincts and reflect the City’s vision to be Sydney’s Central City; sustainable, liveable and productive.
The concept designs will be on display at drop in sessions at the following locations and dates:
Hard copies of the design will also available at the Parramatta Central Library, 1-3 Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta.

Bridge itself is a sound idea, lots of hirise going up all around it, and the shortcut will make walking shorter for quite a few trips.
Criticisms - I don't like the deprioritizing of the through path and prioritizing of the bridge path on the north side. I would only do such a thing if they were going to replicate a similar approach on the south side of the bridge and hook up the shared path on the other side of the bridge as part of this project. Since the bridge is just dumping riders out onto a street, I don't think it should have such priority on its entrance. I also expect that better designs would make the stairs unnecessary.
