Party Part Deux. The Ride
OK so I've made some decisions about the night time event. But I'm going to open up the discussion again about a daytime ride / picnic / BBQ.
Sydney Olympic Park seems to be the clear favourite venue. I think it makes sense.
How would people like to do this ?
One suggestion was made to start some rides in different parts of Sydney and converge at SOP for lunch, that's not a bad plan.

Want me to pick a NW, NE, SE and SW meeting place and then we can argue about routes from each one to SOP?

Well, it is not that hard. To the North, you come via Rhodes. From the East you come via the Bay to Bay, from the West you can come either down the M4 Path or along the River. From the South, you can also come via the Bay to Bay.

I like the idea of some rather large bike buses converging on SOP.
I think Wentworth common was suggested earlier as a possible location as it has toilets, BBQs etc and is child friendly

How bout a treasure hunt at sop ? Or perhaps we could make up a pretend commute and call it the tour de commute
ie a pretend car door opening, irate pedestrian etc.
Prizes for who can pick up items from the Newmarket shops for the BBQ in time. I know some of oyu probably
see this as a repeat of the messenger championships held there but hey it was fun to watch and to me
it needs something like such a challenge with eggs, milk etc.
Perhaps an IKEA challenge and a photo after all there was some discussion on the IKEA in Denmark now providing a bike trailer service,that I would like to see.

I'm interested, date/availability pending. Never ridden to Olympic Park so I'd definitely prefer meeting up with some of the inner west crew and riding in from there. I recall a mention of hitting the Cooks River trail for some of the trip?

For those of us coming from the North, we could meet at the weir in Lane Cove National park (at the bottom of Delhi Rd). It is an easy 15-20kms to SOP from there on pretty safe roads.

I'm assuming that this is also happening on Sat July 11th?
If it goes ahead I'll ride in from the West, starting at Rooty Hill. Happy to detour a little to meet up with fellow Westies. Note that there is rail trackwork west of Granville this weekend, so catching the train back is not really an option.

Sounds like an awesome idea, especially the converging at SOP.
Can't make the evening event, so looking forward to meeting other Sydney cyclists.
Would be like a training ride for the Spring Cycle too ;-)

Hi Damian,
I've put up a ride in from the west to S.O.P.
Any ideas of where we're meeting?
Should we consider 'Lilies on the park' cafe (or somewhere nearby) in case the weather turns?
Any other suggestions?

I would like to attend both events but time/family constraints prevent me from doing both on the same weekend. I can't be out riding all day then partying all night! ;-)
I would have preferred the ride to have been on a different weekend, but it is too late now. Is it likely/possible that there may be a ride on at another time?
