Cycling in Sydney Australia

Hi,

Relatively new to Sydney, looking for some regular bike rides from Balmain. My bike fitness is a bit out of where I am normally at but it won't take me long to get my bike legs back.

Let me know if you are happy for me to join you/your group or I would also be happy for some ideas on where to head to. Most people say Bobbin Head so I am keen to try (but don;t know the way!) :)

Cheers

Carl

There are a handful of people in Balmain that do the Waterfall ride on a Sunday morning with the Dulwich Hill bunch. I imagine there'd be quite the convoy to Marrickville for the start now (I left that area a while ago). If none of them chime in here you could go over and join that forum and ask.

The waterfall ride is the main training ride for most of the inner suburbs, it's a 90ish KM ride down through the Sutherland shire and back. Most of the clubs do a training ride there on the weekends.

Bobbin head is a very popular ride, moreso for people who live over on that side to start with. I know a lot of people will drive up the highway then do the ride to avoid riding that part.

Thanks!
I used to ride with the Renegade Cycles bunch with a few guys from the Balmain area. The shop no longer supports the rides but they still occur, see here for details: http://www.jamescheetham.net/Renegade. They ride around the north of Sydney, including "Bobbo", as it's known. This group has three different group which tend to range from BUG to club training ride.
If as Damian suggests you're willing to drive a bit, and after more of a "club" ride then consider www.pelotonsports.com.au - Sat and Sun rides, the Sat is a regular ~70km ride to West Head & Akuna Bay, and Sundays alternate through a variety of about a dozen different routes.
Thanks! Much appreciated. Gonna try Bobbin Head tomorrow!!
