I adapted this from advice from Wyatts Compensation in Parra, who apparently regard cyclist's injury claims as part of their business.

Maybe they would like to advertise on SC

How do I claim?

  1. See your doctor and report the accident to them and the Police. Make sure you receive an event number and ask your doctor to complete the motor accident medical certificate. (note: if an ambulance is called Police will attend).
  2. If your accident was in the last 28 days, complete an Accident Notification Form and lodge it with the CTP insurer, for access to up to $5,000.00 of medical expenses.
  3. If your accident was more than 28 days ago, call lawyer for help in completing the Personal Injury Claim Form. This is an important document that must be completed with care, and lodged within 6 months of your accident.
  4. If your accident was more than 6 months ago, you still may be able to make a claim
  5. You must make a claim within 3 years of an accident occurring.

hope none of us will have to us it, but thanks for the info on the process

I wonder if the context here is "if in an collision with a motor vehicle" because that's the only CTP I know of.   The same might not apply in other circumstances.

Yes, the procedure is different.

Still, if you suffer an off and injury because of a dog or pedestrian or cyclist you can and probably should go after them. It's just different insurance to CTP ... usually a home policy. Dr for sure, Police maybe then lawyer.

A friend suffered a broken wrist because of dog, and he did sue successfully.

Not doubting that you can sue, however the existence of insurance and the claim process will be different.  Assuming the person you are seeking redress from has insurance, that is. If they don't - you can still sue them, but you'll have to deal with them or their lawyers directly.

FWIW don't bother with the ANF just go straight to the PICF

And you can find the insurer via;

Tags for me so I can find it in the future (I hope I don't have to): CTP MAA
