This evening I was driving thru Sydney CBD and a fire engine came from behind with the lights flashing. It had to wait for the cars to get out of the way.  There was a separated bike path next to the lane it was stuck in, however the lane was a little narrow for the fire engine to drive down.  I was thinking at the time that if the bike lane was a little wider then the fire engine could moved into it as the cyclists could of easily mounted the footpath to let it pass but instead it got stuck behind motorists (I was one of them)
