The Firefly Bicycle Light - ABC New Inventors & shortlisted for the Australian Design Awards
Hi Everyone,
Last year from my Industrial Design degree major work I designed the Firefly Bicycle Light.
I thought some members on the site maybe interested in the design and how it works. At this stage it is just an initial design, with a working prototype model, but hopefully in the not too distant future we could all be riding around with one!
Everything about the light can be seen at the following sites. The Global Design Awards has the most recent images and information.
The design was shortlisted in the Australian Design Awards - James Dyson Award
Which has provided entry into the James Dyson Global Design Awards, this includes updated and better images of the light, including a comparison. If you get a chance to vote that would be great!
From this attention I have also made it onto the ABC New Inventors, my segment is debuting this coming Wednesday May 5th at 8pm on ABC1. (Please feel free to vote here too :) )

The broad illumination concept is great.
Are you considering alternate mountings to the rather long seat post attachment?
I'm thinking that commuters who already use rear racks have a ready made mounting point at about the right distance for the illumination to work efectively.
