Cycling in Sydney Australia
Please go to https://haveyoursay.waverley.nsw.gov.au/campbell-parade-upgrade and fill in the survey at the bottom. (10 questions - approx 2 mins)
** Make sure you mention support for cycling in your comments.**
Council is planning to upgrade all of Campbell Parade so that the street is more liveable and attractive for everyone in the community.
Consultants, Aspect Studios, have done an analysis study of Campbell Parade and have identified three guiding values for the consultation:
Another value, Enhancing Resident Amenity is being considered.
As a first step we want to know what will be most important to you in the upgrade.
Your feedback will inform the design and shape the guiding vision for the project.
Survey closes 15 Dec.
Additional specific topics to mention include:
1 - support for public transport and active travel (walking / cycling)
2 - safe, local bike access rather than door zone shoulder cycling lanes
3 - reflection of Waverley's People, Movement & Places (http://www.waverley.nsw.gov.au/?a=30149) transport hierarchy (page 14) - people first, then bicycles, public transport, service vehicles, shared mobility, private vehicles.
4 - slowing down traffic speeds to 30-40 km/hr in this dense movement zone
5 - more convenient bicycle parking to encourage visits and stays
“Reducing car dependence by giving precedence to walking, cycling and public transport” would be a better “guiding value”, but politically difficult?
And if Bondi waterfront remains a huge car park what chance of that anyway?
