Audax Riders

Audax rides are non-competitive long distance tours by bicycle, called "randonnees". The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace. Rides are open to all reasonably fit riders - non-Audax members are most welcome to join.

I may not of mentioned this yet, can't be bothered re-reading my comments here or elsewhere.

Even so we had a cool to cold day, rain squalls causing wet dry wet dry conditions all day, I had a cold and in the end a bunged up knee as well + a front derailleur that snapped and as a result a very slow 330km time I still had one of the best cycling days I've ever had.

SM1200 organisers and volunteers made that one day a blast, thanks to all. I can't express how bloody excellent the whole experience was, well worth all the effort.

September 2011 was my first ever Audax attempt and a DNF, my last 3 rides have also all been DNFs and I'm still having a great time.

Looking forward to my next Audax outing.

Keeping the rubber side down and the zygomaticus muscles contracted.

Andrew Johnson has just completed SM1200, first one in I believe. Fantastic.

"I still had one of the best cycling days I've ever had"

That is amazing. You audax nutters are a strange lot.

Good on you Rob.

Although it seems Andrew Johnson passed through all the checkpoints hours before opening, no times recorded other than leaving Mansfield before midnight. Don't understand why, will it count?

Also finally got my first brevets back, for 2 rides late June & July, waiting on May (who was that organiser) , early June rides and others since.

Yes, I think so. He just needs his brevet card signed. The times displayed on the website are just a bonus for us to follow the riders' progress.

Re brevet cards - there is a link on the audax site that can give some indication of the progress of the card processing. Look for "Brevet Status" in the right hand column of the home page.

was that one of my rides Bill? I've had my WIW ride card back for a while now.

Comment by Robflyte on November 20, 2013 at 12:30pm

seems that 150 is missing from the WIW set of rides.

Comment by Bill Parker on November 20, 2013 at 12:32pm
Michael: There would have been no one at the controls when Andrew went through?

Rob: still waiting on the WiW one (was only a 150, maybe in a different BA pile), I will see what comes in next week or two
