Audax Riders

Audax rides are non-competitive long distance tours by bicycle, called "randonnees". The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace. Rides are open to all reasonably fit riders - non-Audax members are most welcome to join.

+1 to what Enzederuk re awards. I completed Year Round Randonneur (at least 1 200km+ ride each calendar month for the Audax year) on Saturday. It sounds a bit boy scout collecting patches and whatnot, but there has been a few times this year where I felt like riding home (or staying in bed) instead of completing the ride, but did not because I had a larger goal.

@steve daniels - contact the ride organiser directly. Most of the ROs seem to have a post-PBP hangover ;) so the upcoming rides page has not been updated.

I'm quite sure I will be doing the Hawkesbury Valley 150km on the 30th, not sure I'm ready for 200km yet.  Organiser still has to arrange an M2 alternate route but otherwise the ride looks great.

I'm happy to hear there will be an alternative to the M2. As a rule I avoid all rides that have motorway shoulder sections. Not fun at all.

'Fraid not. I decided to DNS the day before (for personal reasons) a decision I was pleased with on Sunday morning.

That's great work on the YRR, Si. Congratulations. Keep that up and you should be well prepared for the legendary Great Southern Randonee.

Have you tried a 300 yet?

"In Search of Hills" is another great ride. One of my favourites. Usually pulls a big crowd, too.

Farnsy - you own a blue Baum correct? I think we met on that bloody cold Out And About 150 in 2010? Had a discussion about h[censored]s at the check point in Pitt Town?

Thanks re YRR. No 300 for me yet.

Comment by Farnsy on October 12, 2011 at 11:23am

Yep, that was me. You really must try a 300. They are twice as hard as a 200. The last 100kms are a killer.

They are twice as hard as a 200.

Yes, I 2nd that. Good description Farnsy.

I hope that each longer distance doesn't doubles the difficulty. That would make a 1200 about 64 times as hard as a 200. Ouch!

Anyone going in the epic warm up this weekend?

Not me. Will be riding to Dubbo with Zoo2Zoo. :-)
