Audax Riders

Audax rides are non-competitive long distance tours by bicycle, called "randonnees". The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace. Rides are open to all reasonably fit riders - non-Audax members are most welcome to join.

Yuck. Fingers crossed for some fresh air in a couple of weeks.

Managed to make the Hawkesbury Valley Randonnee (200) on Sunday. The weather was fine apart from a couple of short, sharp downpours around Kurrajong. Fortunately the sun dried us out very quickly and the forecast southerly held off until we were back home. All in all a pleasant ride and good way to ease out the cobwebs for summer.

Anyone interested in a 200km "Perm" this Sunday? I was thinking Hawkesbury; Kulnura, Mangrove, that sort of thing. Couple of options. Start at 6am? Trying to get back into condition so I plan to "take it easy".

I'm still out of action for the next few weeks, but the wire holding my thumb in place is due to come out in the first week or December and I am looking to do a 200km permanent in a similar area on Saturday December 10 to keep my Year Round Randonneur aspirations alive - I don't fancy my comeback being "In Search of Hills"!

Maybe...? Depending on lots of things. What sort of rolling average is your "take it easy"? Have been off the bike for a month due to my son being born and this also makes it difficult to commit 100%. Wife says "no worries". But... I'll see how I feel after the commute tomorrow :).

Sorry to hear that Rob. Hoping to do "Hill Search" myself this year.

Si, expect to average 18-20km/h, I think? Finish 2-3pm? I'm still a maybe myself but will keep in touch and let you know.

Rob, can two do the same permanent? I'd do another north 200. You are faster than I am so I don't expect to ride with you but fit is good to know someone else is out there.
Either that or I am doing Thirlmere ride which I have not seen a map of yet, if that has less hills I'm in.

I've registered for the Hawkesbury Valley Randonnee 200 on the 19th.

Saturday's a better day for me. Good luck with the Sunday ride guys.

So, I'm firming on Garry Armsworth's Spencer Loop. The route is on Bikely which is intermittent now, at best. Have asked Garry to pass on route details in an alternative format. I'm a 70% chance, at this stage.
