Cycling in Sydney Australia
Audax rides are non-competitive long distance tours by bicycle, called "randonnees". The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace. Rides are open to all reasonably fit riders - non-Audax members are most welcome to join.

A late change of plans meant that I was able to do an audax ride this weekend. The local 100s were out due to the traffic from "Convoy" (just donate the money and stop polluting the environment). The…Continue

You know it's going to be an interesting day when a bird attempts suicide just as you arrive at the start (bird is fine).Group of five (4x 300 and 1x 400) set off. I soon got dropped as we missed a…Continue

We are clearly not worthy disciples.I was nervous about this ride, I felt I would be near my limits with the amount of climbing and the length of gravel.Eleven riders lined. Eight doing the 200, one…Continue
I had planned to do the ride but have a family lunch to go to instead now. I am starting my 200km per month thing in November with the Yarramalong ride.
Have not done a 200 yet, did not even finish my first 150.

robflyte - the ride from Wisemans Ferry to Mangrove Mtn is beautiful. The cars heading east/north tend to come in waves due to the ferry so there are long periods of relative peace and tranquility. Make sure you fill up your liquid at Wisemans, because after Spencer there is nothing until Kulnura.
A good strategy for YRR is to try and do a ride early early in the month so if you DNS/DNF you get the chance to have another go (or three).
Make sure your brakes work for Bumble Hill as well. It's very steep.
thanks for the info Si. I tend to go through water at a high rate so good to know.
Plan was to do the early ones in each month for that reason.
Wife still asking me why I am doing this, got no real answer apart from "because I can" which is not really the truth as I don't know if I can.
Well, I hope they don't do any backburning on 5 November!
Looks like we will be in the same boat for Yarramalong - on the bright side, we have added more kms into our legs, even if not quite as much as we wanted or as comfortable as we could have hoped for and we will be in a better position for the brevet for it than if we hadn't ridden at all. It wouldn't be an achievement if it was easy, but it will get easier ;)
