Today I received my letter from the AEC asking me to confirm my membership of the ACP. They require my response by 8th January. The letter was dated 20th December, and I've been on holidays since the 21st and got back today -  Friday 3rd. If I had stayed away until Tuesday the 6th as originally planned then I would not have been able to reply on time.

Are any other members going to miss out on responding because they have gone away for Christmas/New Years?

You know how I hate to be a pedant, but Monday is the 6th. Australia Post, the organisation which uses a vertically-oriented snail as its logo, really delivers at the speed of ... well, at least a white red van.

So, even if you did respond only on Tuesday, your letter would arrive by Wednesday (the 8th) as long as you posted by 6pm the day before.

But yes, it does seem like strange timing. Conspiracy??

FWIW and before this gets out of control there's no conspiracy here. We've always been on a tight deadline for NSW registration and only really got *just* (and probably not) enough on the last two sign up's we did mid December.

If you have signed up and haven't got a letter please get in contact with ACP, we may have a different address or something like that - tah.

D@mn. I left out the " ;-) " on that previous post!

But my letter went in last month.

Don't worry about the "deadline" - this was a motivator by the NSW AEC to make sure people don't just file the letter and forget about it. They will continue to send out reminders every couple of weeks right into February. Just send it in as soon as you can - we need 750 to make it - and sign up if you haven't!

We received an update from the Australian EC that informing us that they will begin their random sampling by phone and/or email by Tuesday of this coming week.  Only members supplying phone numbers were submitted to the AEC.

It is really important for anyone receiving a call or a message to respond in order for us to have a chance at a federal listing in time for upcoming federal elections.  Once those elections are called all applications for party status are frozen until after the elections are declared.

Please let us know if you are called!

Way to go Aaron!  Just so you can start saving up, we have a number of ACP pins featuring our different logos and jerseys coming soon!

Makes it look like some sort of "official" maybe vice regal type vehicle, don't be surprised if you get priority.

Regarding bumper bar stickers, I was passed too closely yesterday by a car and on the back was a sticker "a metre matters" !

and yet Bill, I notice that cars that seem to give me extra room are those with Queensland plates. It was noticed by the other riders I was with on the Dam Blue Hills ride as well. It has become a normal way of driving in such a short time.

Very funny Sir Aaron, when it comes to "lords and saviours" I firmly subscribe to the Life of Brian view!  And, well, "always look on the bright side of life...(whistle)"  ;-)

Rob, good to hear the feedback.  What I have heard from others has been mixed but also appears influenced by whether they thought it would work or not beforehand.  Even if it only worked for one out of ten drivers, it would still be an improvement wouldn't it?  Good to hear it may be much greater.
