I'm happy to be a mentor - but I ride mostly on the north side of the Harbour.

Hi Yogi, I've got some basic skills but not very confident so if you end up with a bit of a group of novices I am keen to join in and also ride with some other newies. Thanks Yogi and the others.

Sounds great! When do we start? I love riding my bike and I am keen to learn more about how to get the most out of developed coordination between me, my muscles and brain and reflexes and my bike. And I am also keen to feel more confident in maintaining my bike. I would start as a mentee. Cheers Garry 0402 264 489

At such a school, focussed on fun and skill, there would be a good opportunity to include sensible and sociable protocols for cyclists.

Anatomy of a road bike
Worth a look to see what the really fast boys and girls ride.

I urge you all to just ride your bike.

if you have any questions please just raise them. It is all about DOING IT.

share your problems and I bet your not the only one who has it.... forums are a great place to gain knowledge and know-how. Also, being able to find someone to ride with is an asset.

People come and go on this site but one thing for sure. That is, you will always find someone interested in your issue who are at the same level.

(did I just say that 2 times?)

gears 101.
Avoid cross over meaning do not use Big to Big or Small to Small

try and use the SMALL (at the front) chain ring and use the bigger cogs at the back and visa versa
When using the Big Chain ring use the smaller cogs.

basically keep the chain straighter. it will give you better wear and tear on your components AND your pedal effort will be more smooth too.
