Voodoo on Mount Street in North Sydney makes very nice coffee.

If you are in Brisbane, you have to go to the Nundah Village and have a coffee at JAM. Very nice coffee and great service in a quiet street with great people.

oh I have been meaning to try Mecca for ages - a small bike excursion from work next week methinks!

Mecca have another place just near circular quay, corner of Alfred st (I think). It was a godsend last week when I was at a conference nearby.

Well, when I first moved up here 20 years ago, you couldn't get a decent cup of coffee outside Nortron St and a couple of places in the cross. Now everyone in Sydney is a coffee snob. Where I come from, good coffee was a fact of life and taken for granted. Give me Pelligrino or Tamani any day of the week.

The best coffee in my neck of the woods is made by me on my Vev stovetop. I use whatever's on special at Borsellino's up the road (4 kgs for $45 last time!). You're welcome, but I can't guarantee that there'll be any milk or sugar unless Daniela doen't mind. Double long blacks rule!

BTW, the best baristas in Sydney are in the forecourt of the big hotel at the Quay end of Pitt St. They're only there Monday to Friday, so you weekend only warriors miss out.

Allpress Espresso on Epson Rd Roseberry has, in my opion, the best coffee in Sydney by far. They roast it on site which means it is as fresh as you can get it - lots of single origin bean varieties from around the globe plus they do fantastic post ride food. The owner, Michael Allpress and Tony Papas are also both cyclists. Definately worth trying out if your in the area. Paul

Yeah Allpress is pretty good:) Haven't tried the food yet but they sell these great little packs of chocolate that each have a different cocoa bean so you can do your own little dark chocolate tastings - it's addictive!

The best coffee for me is still in Melbourne - and Perth coffee is horrid. In Sydney its a showdown between Toby's Estate and Campos coffee shops. I live on Bourke so I recommend Side Plate, Frames and Zoe. Bourke Street Bakery do strong coffee. But my favourite is Cafe Mint on Crown.

Allpress is in the middle of an Industrial area - you must really love your coffee to go to such lengths to get your coffee - must try it one day on my bike commute from Surry to Uni.

Southern Cross Dr - O'Dea Ave - then left down Gadigal Ave - then Joynton Ave. hmmm - how much do I want a good coffee to get up early on a winter morning - lol.

actually the last time i was at Cafe Mint on Crown they were also using ALLPRESS Coffee....You would be amazed just how many people do go out of their way to drive to Roseberry or stop in on the way to work..these days the que out the door is getting longer and longer.....I agree that Melbourne has great coffee too...my first stop when i fly down for business is always Pellegrino Cafe
