Ok Neil in the spirit of fair play I now have both books :)

I'm looking at mid January for the first ride, starting with something pretty relaxed and see who is interested and how the pace goes.

Good stuff, looks like there are a few contenders, i was thinking of Saturday the 23rd as the first ride and doing either either lower north shore, inner west or east. I want to have the date up for everyone by tomorrow evening to give people a chance to schedule it in, so votes :)

New to group- Ive got this book and done a couple of the rides (mainly along the Cook and Parramatta Rivers). I don’t know if you’ve done the 7-Bridges ride....Im hoping to do it one of these upcoming wknds....if its not stinking hot or pouring with rain as seems to be the trend of late.

Hi David

Ive just joined your Cycling Around Sydney group and the Inner West Cycling group- where I was informed about the following ride that seems to fit your criteria (27th and around the Inner West)…It sounds like its fairly casual. Ill be going as I think it can accommodate my (currently) sluggish fitness levels. Dont know if its what you were keen on?

Massbug Chocolate and Fine Food Ride
Sat 27 9am Starts and ends in Petersham.
Call 95651657 to confirm.

By the way- last weekend I did the 'canals of the west' ride from the "Bike rides around Sydney' book- was a great way to see parts of Sydney I dont know. Highly recommend it, especially at this time of year when its not so hot. It has some nice historical aspects, like the cycling through disused canals of the Prospect Reservoir and Fairfield City Farm. The entire ride (approximately 44km) is on fantastic bike paths (or canals) so there are no roads/cars to contend with (good for me as Im still getting used to cleats).

Hi all

Leichhardt BUG does regular Sunday rides of varying grades, from Easy to Hard, something for everyone, and our motto is See Sydney By Bike. We head E, W, S and N to explore Sydney and sometimes take the train to Windsor or Campbeltown to extend our range. New members always welcome. Check our Calendar on or our new Ning site at Also, see many of our rides on Bikely by doing a search on "LBUG" or "bobm31".

This Sunday we are riding from Leichhardt to Rooty Hill, via Olympic Park, M4 Cycleway, Westmead, Transit Way, M7 cycleway. Then return via Prospect Canal cycleway. All welcome. Be at the Bakehouse Cafe, Moore St, Leichhardt, by 8am. Moderate pace, not fast, can adjust depending on who turns up. We wait for everyone to catch up. Nice cakes at the Rooty Hill Bakery and dead cheap.

Come along and join the fun or sponsor a rider, it all helps.

All funds raised for this cause are directed back to the people of Samoa via ‘Let’s Help Samoa’ charity
This is a charity bicycle tour in Samoa April 10 2011 with a second ride in July 2011.
