Geeks on bikes manifesto

Do you like technology? Do you work in technology? Are you a gamer? A social networker? A PC builder? An IT student? Or are you just a geek for some other reason?

If any of these questions elicits a positive answer from you, then Geeks on Bikes is for you. It's the place where you can discuss overclocking ... or overtaking. Google ... or gear ratios (or Google gears). Databases ... or derailleurs. Cisco ... or Colnago. WiFi ... or wheels.

You get the drift. Let's do it!

Hello geeks. I've just spent the last two hours ogling over free body diagrams and thought I'd swing by to get amongst people who get that. Shall I start a discussion on wheel physics? There must be someone else out there who is also aroused by this!? Or is the geek department all IT here?

re DST and Notes: Appointments will move if you created them BEFORE the correct DST settings were applied to your Notes client i.e. if your settings said you didn't have DST and then they were changed to say you did, any appointment added to the DST period before the change will move by one hour. Notes normally uses the OS settings for time and date - what version are you using?

Stuart, we'll see what happens in October with DST. Usually what happens is that if you have a recurring meeting scheduled to happen in AEST (for example), when DST starts all the appointments are still scheduled to happen in AEST, so the time of the meeting gets moved in the Calendar. Likewise, if you schedule a recurring meeting during DST, when DST ends, the same thing happens.
Anyway, fingers crossed it is all sorted this time around!

re @Paul and DST changes - this issue is being caused by a badly configured installation (or Notes or Windows or both) and has nothing to do with Lotus Notes functionality, or lack thereof. Ask your admins to read the online Notes & Domino Info Centre and change the setup!

There's a strange (and not so strange) symbiotic link between technologists and bike lovers....so many of them are both! We own a high-end technology distribution company (www.eurekapacific.com.au) and recently founded...yes: a bicycle division. (www.eurekabrands.com.au) Go figure!

It's GREAT to find this group - makes us not feel like such freaks!
