Cycling in Sydney Australia
We could do worse (not sure how) than to adopt the General Rules from the NSW Bar Associations Style Guide to hopefully ensure none of us makes egregious errors.*
Remember to never split an infinitive.
Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are (usually) unnecessary.
Use the apostrophe in it's proper place and omit it when its not needed.
(Who'd a thunk lawyers could have a sense of humour?)
*Any adherence to the General Rules in this posting is deliberate.
I object to this Your Honour:
21 March 2001
not 21st March not March 21st
I just do. Who's ever heard of a "21 birthday" for example? Or has anyone recently put their bicycle into "3 gear" ?
DON'T PANIC!, Gw.
I was referring just to their "General Rules*", now included in OP.
(And I did add a parenthetical remark.)
Note that their full rules are based on the "Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition"!
I'm so glad you wrighted that "DON'T PANIC!" in large, friendly letters, else I just might have panicked.
15th edition indeed. What a joke.
