I have created this group as a way for people who are into vintage and retro-styled bicycles in contact. I am currently working on the restoration of a "Malvern Star", dated to the 1970's and a "Universe" (actually made by Speedwell) which dates from the 1950's. I love these old bicycles. I love their easy and upright riding position, I love their comfortable handle-bars, I love their big sprung saddles and I love internally-geared hubs. Archaic? Probably, but there is just about everything to love about these magnificent old machines.

This sounds like fun..!

Any chance of making it in Centennial Park the time after for those of us who live inner/east?

Unfortunately I'll be o/s in July but am very keen on the Lord Nelson, Rocks, Darling Harbour ride. Early August perhaps ? As for stops along the way, my earlier suggestion was simply based on places I like as they serve good beer (like the Lord Nelson). The Belgian is also in the Rocks, Red Oak near Wynyard. Squiers is at Darling Harbour so may tie-in nicely and The Mac is over near Hyde Park so could be a good spot to finish - epecially on a Sunday as the band (usually jazz/soul) starts around 6pm - and there is a Thai restaurant upstairs that is pretty good. Altho' the idea of Devonshire Tea along the way is also rather appealling. Not sure where to get that tho'.

Adam, that sounds fantastic! I am also OS for July, so I'd be keen for some kind of beer / scones / jazz hybrid in August!
