Do you sit on tensioned leather? Is yours a lugged steel bicycle? Is carbon just that stuff people say we need to stop putting into the air? This is a group for people into vintage bicycles. (typically pre-1980's)

Sounds like fun (not sure about the trams though!)... What time are you thinking, and is this expedition open to others like myself whose Vintage credentials are a little shaky?

Looking to gather from 11 am or so at Town Hall for about 11:30am start. Lord Nelson opens at 12, so a pint there and looking for somewhere suitable nearby to grab lunch. Its then basically an old time afternoon excursion.

Lack of retro bicycle credentials must be compensated for by retro clothing. ;-)

the more retro the better (in life, in general, in my opinion) but the more the merrier i'm sure ... i might have to bail early (around 3 or 4 pm) to go to band practice but that should be plenty of time for an ale or twain, lunch and/or devonshire tea - was there previously mention of the barracks museum? or something like that?

So are we on for this Sunday, Aug 9, 12 noon start at Town Hall, down to the Lord Nelson, jaunt thru the park, and then arvo tea at the barracks? I certainly hope so - in fact I may do it anyway regardless of whether anyone else turns up!

Another possibility after the Lord Nelson is to cycle over to the fish markets for lunch ... there's a semi-complete cycle path from Darling Harder round to Pyrmont. Then we could go back up through Glebe, past Sydney Uni and Central to Hyde Park ... just a thought ... hope the current glorious weather holds out ...

That sounds like a great plan. Let's say meet from about 11:30am at Town Hall (same meeting place as for Sydney Tweed Run) to kick off at midday. The current weather has been good. Not too warm to don the old Tweed (I wore mine on Sunday and did a 25km circuit of Fairfield and Smithfield, which included a stop at a Dutch food shop and cafe). If all works out to plan, I'll have my green roadster on new wheels in time for this ride.

I put up an event page for it:

By the way, someone sent me this link: I imagine that it is in US dollars and there would be shipping costs to pay, but if enough of us are interested in Merino Wool Jerseys, perhaps we should consider doing some sort of bulk order.
