So, it seems that those that control the trains hate bikes (at least during "peak" times). They do have an exception, a folded bike that is in a bag. My response to hearing that was, "So, you allow…Continue

Kerry Blue,

Recommend you talk to Dave or Nick at Cheeky Transport re some decent Shimano brake levers and some Ergon handle bar grips. They transform the front end. Check my Brompton on the Tweed Ride.

Appreciate the advice Matt! I spend more time in Tweed Valley than SYD so my Brommie coming from elsewhere. Nick was great help when I was last in SYD and may buy via post from him again. Can't be around for Tweed ride due to work but hope you'll post photos. Matt, can you please post photos of your Ergons and brake levers? Suitable for P type bars? Already transforming Trek f400 with sort-of P type bars from Nick - much improved but had to add length to the cables to do it! Ah...6 weeks to go....

I was saddened to see the loss theft of your Raleigh 20. You can become attached to any bike, but the small wheeled bikes have real character

Do the small wheel/folder fanciers ever get together for a ride? When I was considering the purchase a folder some years back, I went to Canberra for a small whels pedalfest over several days. I have to say it was a really enjoyable weekend.

Yes, the weather was superb, which helped, but many brands were represented. There existed the opportunity to ride a variety.

We did have a ride last September for the group which preceded this one ("Sydney Folders"). As turned out, only two showed up. That group was removed (well, let's say it folded..) without explanation, and some time later this one appeared. Matt Shearer has already suggested a ride for this new group but no-one seemed interested.

You might like to suggest a ride again and see how things go, maybe create a listing in SC Events. Almost certainly Matt and myself will turn up at least, so with you as well that's 50% up on the first ride, a massive improvement!

There was also a suggestion for  a folders contingent in the forthcoming Tweed Ride, which could be put about more.

If you have any contacts in Canberra, please post info about rides on SC, as there is not good communication. They are probably having another Tweed Ride this year for instance, but no-one here knows about it.

'a folders contingent in the forthcoming Tweed Ride'

I'd be interested in this:-)

Also a leisurely ride at the Centennial Park would be good too.

Sorry, heavy bicycles only.

Sorry, heavy bicycles only

Pardon?  Is that in relation to the Tweed run?

I'm thinking of taking my new Brompton to Floriade in SEP in Canberra and then exploring the many bike paths of the ACT. Maybe once the dates are "set" I should post and see if anyone else wants a few days in Canberra on small wheels? (Nearly 5 weeks since I ordered my the time drags..)
