I have seen similar things happen to bikes at the Broadway Shopping Centre, King St Newtown and Enmore Rd. I have often wondered if someone would cut the cable and take the remains or would the council do that?

Its interesting that they cut the hub out of the wheel. Would have just been easier to cut that crappy lock.

I wonder if the frame was salvageable...

Worth taking if so.

There is one at Blacktown station that is in worse shape than this. It is quite disgusting what some people will do for some drug money.

They must be desperate if they are going to risk being caught cutting 36 spokes. Didn't anyone stop them or challenge them? Obviously not.

It's like the remains of a kill once the Lions and hyenas have had their fill!

Poor thing

I bet someone loved that bike once.......

Given that this pic was originally posted on October 20, 2007, (possibly Day 1 of Sydney Cyclist -- AKA the Big Bang -- if my research is accurate), it might be time for a follow-up shot, eh Damo?
