"I broke a non-drive-side rear spoke t'other day (on a wheel I didn't build). I simply unscrewed it from the nipple and placed in nearest proper receptacle. Wheel was hardly out of true so just kept riding until I could be bothered fixing…"

"Have 'Lashed" the spoke with a bit of electrical tape. The wheel has no wobble and has disc brakes .. All seems good. Son can ride it home tonight and I'll get it sorted tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the advice!!"

"Just be aware that unless you have disc brakes you may need to loosen the front brakes a bit depending on how much of a wobble the wheel has."

"One broken spoke is fine over that distance. 32 spoke configuration is very strong. Just avoid any big square hits to the rim (eg going up gutters etc). You could also lower the tyre pressure a bit. "
