"The 4 wheel pedal car pulled out at Berlwra, I think because of concerns about the brakes on the steep descents. My rear derailleur cable (11 month old Dura Ace) broke around Mt Kuringai. Made for tough climbs. Made the baths by 6 but the cafe…"

"Wise words Bhanu. I think I am at my best when I tackle rides I am not sure I will complete. Usually any 600 or 400 or anything with Festum in the name :-) Chris"

"And of course it is cold. Tim's rides are the only ones I take "survival equipment" in the form of a cigarette lighter so I can light a fire if everything goes pear shaped in the middle of the night. Chris"

"I did the Festum 600 last year. Both Andrew and Bhanu are much stronger riders than me so it clearly is possible for either of you. It’s the 400 that is impossible. Tim talked me out of that one as all the difficult dirt is in the dark. Wheeny…"

Audax Riders

Audax rides are non-competitive long distance tours by bicycle, called "randonnees". The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace. Rides are open to all reasonably fit riders - non-Audax members are most welcome to join.
