I'm baaaaack!

If any of you heard a bit of minor whooping and hollering in the vicinity of the north end of the SHB on Monday morning, that was me clocking my first thousand kms. \(^_^)/

It took me bloody long enough, what with injuries, sickness, and a few months of just plain lazy, but I did it, and I have all of you to thank for helping me get started.

Some random bits and pieces:

I've gotten back into the commute a few weeks ago, and while extracurricular…

Dear douchebag who told me to 'hurry up' on the SHB,

If 20km/h up the Dawes Point end is too slow for you, that's what overtaking is for. I'm glad you figured that out eventually; I hope that the 15 second lead you'd built up by the Milson's Point stairs was every bit as satisfying as you'd wished for, and that your saddle causes pudendal nerve entrapment.

Love,

Conrad

SC Brain Trust, help!

After an uneventful ride from Marrickville to North Sydney this morning, my left knee is clicking quite badly every time I take a step. The clicking's not painful as such but it's got that "just try me" twinge every time it happens, like the next one is going to explode in a world of hurt. Help? Riding with cleats on a MTB, seat's up nice and high, what's the go?

On a side note, my right hip hates me too; apparently running for a bus last night was… Continue

I did it! Woo! Thanks for the words of encouragement and advice guys, and I'll hereby nominate myself as Site DJ, although Neil Alexander's going to regret giving me ideas... Approximate route (I really should use Bikely or something, Google Maps still doesn't know you can walk/ride over the bridge)… Continue

If any of you see a tall dude on a black Cell MTX-0 pottering from the inner west to North Sydney tomorrow morning, say hi as you overtake. The weather looks promising, the time is now, and provided I can wake myself up early enough, it'll be my first commute.

I've been trying to hook up a chaperone/buddy for my first trip for a while now (and BikeSaint's been legendary in her efforts to help) but I'm getting impatient, and in the end I'll be a whole lot prouder of myself if I do… Continue

Interested in your comments on the Cell bike buying/riding experience. Have been looking at getting an MTB with hydraulic disc brakes... This looks like good value. Have you done much riding off bitumen?

Thanks so much for letting me know, Conrad - I've found the problem and have put in a request to have it rectified. I'll let you know when it's fixed (a day or two?) and you can resend. Sorry and thanks.
