As a member of Bicycle NSW I received an email today to advise that they have set up a survey to collect data on close passes. In doing so they can get a more accurate picture as to the extent of the…Continue

Riding home last week, very carefully between parked cars and the slow moving traffic on Spofforth Street Mosman, I noticed a police car just ahead of me appear to veer ever so slightly to the left.…Continue

"Just read it all. Looks the lights are there to stay. Yay. From observations the number of rat runners has reduce significantly including the motorbikes/scooters. Despite my submission, no mention of the removal of bikes exemption sign for the left…"

All's Fine on the DrFine 5 years and 30,000 kms on

Posted on April 3, 2015 at 12:58pm 0 Comments

It has now has been over 5 years and at least 30,000 kms on the Kona DrFine.

Since my last update over 12 months ago I have had to have a rear wheel build (the 2nd) and a drive train rebuild i.e. chain ring, chain and rear sprocket. I don't seem to be replacing bottom brackets as much as I used to but it still requires regular tightening and greasing to prevent creaky cranky cranks.

More recently my Light n Motion Urban 550 front light packed in. Won't charge anymore.…

Its now been over 4 years and approximately 25,000 km's since I bought my Kona DrFine commuter with 8spd Alfine hub.

In my last update some 12 months ago I had reached the 20,000 km milestone having been doored a couple of months earlier at 3 year mark.

Since then I estimate that I have only added…

All's fine with the Alfine 3 years and 20,000 kms

Posted on January 23, 2013 at 11:34pm 14 Comments

This comes to you about a 8 weeks later than I anticipated thanks to a dooring in mid-November that left with me with a broken 5th metacarpal in my left hand and sore arm. So it took a couple of months longer to reach the 20,000 milestone. I also had a broken wrist earlier in the year which put a dent in reaching the milestone sooner or making it closer to 24,000.

So its been over 3 years since I took delivery of my Kona DrFine with 8 speed Alfine rear hub and started commuting from…

Cruising the Gold Coast

Just came back from a week on the Gold Coast.

We spent the first few days doing the theme parks with the 7 year old. He had a great time while I relived my youth through his eyes. But I was over it by Friday so my partner offered to take the boy on her own for his second visit to Wet and Wild and left me to my own devices.

Plan was to do some home work on the laptop after a quick bus trip into surfers paradise however I ended up hiring a…
