"It was once a nice train trip to Albury followed by a pleasant 100km ride to Bright via Yackandandah or Beechworth. Wang to Bright is about 75km. All gear could easily be carried in panniers and either camping or indoor accommodation accommodated.…"

"We will drive down via Jindabyne where we will spend a few days at a secret training camp .  Then we head down to Bright via the Snowies which is a delightful, scenic route on a windy road with very little traffic.…"

Alpine Classic - advice

Planning going down and doing the Alpine Classic with a couple of mates but as first timers we are a bit vague on the logistics of it all.From Sydney it looks like it is a bout an 8 hour drive. Getting there would be fine but the drive back would be tough I would imagine. Any other viable options available.We're also weighing up accommodation options. Any tips recommendations on that front? I've suggested camping but haven't been able to find too much info on that.Any tips/advice most…See More

"There is also a train a couple of times a day to / from Goulburn, except Sunday, early morning , late evening, does not require boxing (except middle of day train which is a bus), might be option on way back to avoid riding whole way or wimping out…"

Bicycle fleets - why not?

I was wondering whether any of you might have opinions on the idea of approaching businesses and proactively encouraging them to establish bike fleets for their employees. I have lost count of the number of people who have come up to me saying they'd love to commute to work but for one reason or another don't. How about if firms were to offer bikes as a benefit and as part of this they also offerred maintenance and proficiency courses. I reckon half the problem relates to lack of opportunity… Continue
