Hi Geoff. Sure has been long-time-no-see! How's things?
Maybe we should have a tandem group on this site. (That might mean we have to get back on it, though. Haven't done much two-up riding since kids appeared on the scene.) Neil still rides with Andrew Downie most Sundays.
We're doing really well. Marian and I have done quiet a few tours on our tandem. The last big one we did was based round the Lonely planet France guide! So a big thanks to Neil!
Starting to do a lot more riding than I have been for many years and have found a good bunch to ride with. We do a Satuday Slowies ride to encourage new riders and ride down to Waterfall on the Sunday. I'll be racing track for the first time on Sat at Tempe Velodrome which should be fun.
A tandem group would be good. There is one on Yahoo groups but there are only a few of us and it seems to be difficult for people to find. We are planning to do a tour of the East coast of Tasmania next year as there will be no BNSW bike ride.
Sorry, we are completely ignorant of the ATB ride, having never ventured down for it. Our main interest in Victoria is the Audax Alpine Classic at Bright which we have been going to since the late '80s (not quite every year). Believe that it is very flat around the Bay and that lots of people do it.
Interested to hear of a new edition of CF. First time heard of, so no, I am not writing it if indeed it is going ahead. Last I heard, LP was burying cycling guides because they were not profitable enough. That said, CF was apparently the most lucrative and the one which most people expressed interest in seeing updated.
Whereabouts in France did you go -- the mountains or somewhere else?
Geoff and Marion, I have no problem telling you who I am - most people on Sydney Cyclist know me anyway. My name is Leigh Gibbens, I worked for BNSW and was the Event Planning and Operations Coordinator for the 2007 RTA NSW Big RIde and also the Route manager on that ride.
Most people have two names. What is Weiyun's other name and why does he set himself up as an apologist for BNSW's shortcomings and the errors in judgement of the NSW Sate Government?
Oh OK, I recall now - that seems a long time ago. I don't even remember what Weiyun and I were discussing - I think it was something about BNSW and him defending them relentlessly. I am on holidays now and don't really care what anyone's last name is today. I am in Byron Bay and was in Nimbin on Sunday and now I just love everyone.
