Glueless patches work well with mountain bikes when used off road with lower tyre pressure.

Far better than being on a ride with patchless glue.

I first read that heading as "Clueless patches". Perhaps that is an accurate description of the product, after all. My own experience with such patches, of a different brand which I can't even remember and many moons ago, was similar. They may wor…

On Sunday I found myself without patches and having gone through two tubes due to punctures induced by glass and rain. I scored a lift with some friend and the next day went on a mission to get patches and a spare tube. As none of the local bike sho…

My New Years Tour

I have finaly crossed one of my big cyclng goals off my list of to do items.

30th December 2009 Stage 1 Lithgow to Katoomba
On Wednesday, I rolled out of bed with a determination to test the route for a ride from my parents place to Sydney. I decided to make it a minimalist tour, so I was going to carry very little. I also have wanted to do this ride as a means of showing that tours can be done on an average or even a below average bike. I chose to do this tour on the Holstar Peleton Road bike… Continue

What is it about riding and bloody phones?

A few weeks ago I went along Adderly Street Silverwater, when I found a fairly newish mobile phone. Fortunately it was not locked and I was able to ring "Home" and arranged for the son and daugher inlaw of the guy who lost it to come and pick it up. They were quite nice about it as their father had lost it while riding.
Today I was riding through Sydney Olympic Park and enjoying the ride when I came accross a cordless phone (Yes it was the one you use at home). There was still battery power in i… Continue

The Amy’s Ride Albury report

On Friday the 7th of March, I went to Albury for the Amy’s Ride Albury. This ride was held as part of the Multisport Albury City (MAC) event held over 2 weeks (see http://www.multisportalburycity.com.au/events/20081111191.htm for more details). I decided to give myself 3 weeks off work to wind down and so decided to include the Amy’s Ride Albury and the Big Canberra Bike Ride in the first week.
There was a choice of either a 124 km ride or a 40 km ride. Both of these rides took the riders over t… Continue

What do you do?

On the same week that ACA ran a story attacking cyclists (how unusual for tabloid TV!), I saw one of the worst displays of inconsiderate behaviour on the Cook River Cycle Path. It happened on Monday. I had had a day at work I would rather forget having attended the funeral of a workmate who committed suicide (the same one I posted on earlier). I went for a ride to Concord West via Olympic Park.
As I was riding up the path close to the tennis courts, a couple of Old Dears riding MTBs were riding… Continue

Cycling helps with times like this

On Monday, just as we were opening the public area where I work, I was told that a popular guy at work had committed suicide. Last year we had 3 people working in our organisation in Sydney committ suicide in separate incidents. Even so it was a complete shock, there were other people who were in tears. I personally did not feel like working on the front counter that day and would have preferred to have done something else. Nearly everyone felt the same. Unfortunatly Peta the manager of the work… Continue

And dealing with anything that requires balls for that matter. They are a complete waste of space, IMHO.

Hi Jonathon, sorry I should have done this sooner. I have been extremely busy with family matters lately. I will contact Kevin Young (CEO of Cycling NSW) about Amy's Ride in Sydney and get back to you when I hear what he has to say.
