I was just searching for my late fathers name as I do sometimes and came across this site and your name.
Dont know if you knew but by Dad, also Ken Bird, was a British mechanic on the 1967 Tour de France with Tommy Simpson.
You are going to make looking for bits about my dad more difficult now, is it possible you change your name :o)
