Ian Luff also runs an advanced driving school. If you need advanced driving, you should check their attitude to cyclists first.

I guess Jason is appealing to what many of his audience would like to hear. Better off not to listen, or give them any attention of publicity. The whole registration argument is redundant anyway. It only applies in a very few places in the world an…

I wrote to Ian Luff after seeing him in the 60 Minutes story and pointed out several flaws in his pro registration argument. His rpely didn't really take any of this into account. Strangely, he thought I was a fan of his motoring column and sent me…

There is an email and postal address here for http://www.amcansw.com.au/documents/2009%20Posts/Associate%20Members%20Web%20list%2008042009.pdf. Maybe wirte them a letter. Hopefully the owner will take a dim view of his employees being a moving adver…

Just checked up on Ian Luff, the motoring journalist at the start of the show. He's also a racing driver so you can see where he is coming from. I dropped him an email pointing out how futile and uncommon bike registration is and how police can stil…

It's a shame that the figure of 0.7% of trips by bicycle keeps getting quoted. This OLD data, 2006 census. I see far more bikes now than in 2006, we could be over 1% by now. There is a census next year I think. Also figures from 'Ride o Work Day' i…

Aurora is a community channel and it seeks out programs made by the community - you don't have to be a seasoned professional to put a show to air. I kind of like seeing stuff that's not carefully manicured and put together. The old public television…

Perhaps they could be persuaded to install a permanent concrete speedhump, rather than one than can be unbolted.

Yes, it wasn't a big budget show. But I thought they covered a lot of different aspects well. Included road anfd MTB bikes, latest gear, riding tips etc. First time I got to see the Amy Gillet 'A metre matters' advertisement too.

Still no change to this site when I rode past yesterday. I did get a call from the Coles Express Retail Area Manager yesterday. Sounds like they operate the site, but Shell owns it and does the repairs. He said he is arranging for them to fix up the…

It repeats Friday, March 12, 2010 4:30PM if interested in recording this weeks show.

I have just watched the second half. I won't say that it was the most professional show that I have ever seen, but there is probably a bit of potential there. I think it will be worth persevering with for a few more weeks.

Starts tonight!

Maybe we need to follow the Bush Care example. A group of volunteers meet regualry to maintian a section of their local cycleway, and are also in contact with their local council. 'Bike Path Care' perhaps?

Epping Rd cycleway, home to Lane Cove's laziest car parkers

The Epping Rd cycleway between Centennial Av and Orion Rd has only been open for a few weeks. The cyleway is painted bright green to denote its purpose, and more signage will follow. Despite this some residents of Epping Rd are treating it as a new parking area. This makes it difficu… Continue

Not sure about Saturday. I need to be back before midday so need to start early if I go at all. Have a good ride anyway.

BTW, is your profile pic taken at West Head?

Kim, you'll be able to tell if the road is open as you pass the top entrance to the Park (General San Martin Dr). There were signs just beyond the intersection and before the toll gate there when Tony and I rode past today. Otherwise, if there is anyone in the toll booth down at the West Head Rd entrance, they will be able to say if the road is open.

Hi Kim, a few of us thinking about a longish hilly ride this weekend if you'd like to join? For me it's a bit of a Fitz's prep!

Herron is a serial offender in the North Shore Times but I enjoy firing back at him. It certainly does give cyclists a higher profile and it looks good when we outnumber him many times to one by weight of letters!

Kim,
Thanks for your considered comments on our recent blogpost. Indeed we think those lomandras placed next to the path are intended to keep people clear of the path.

But what do you reckon is the reason for the ones planted across the path up to the base of the pole? It just don't add up!

Happy riding, and keep your eyes peeled on the "cycleways" for parked cars, garbage bins, dogs, errant peds, poles, plants, glass, badly dropped kerbs, missing slabs, confused taxis... oh, and the odd cyclist!
