There's a train leaving Central at 9:18am arriving Strathfield at 9:31am and Springwood at 10:40am.
People will need to bring warm clothing. The weather can change suddenly in the mountains. I've been snowed on on this trail.
I suggest we have lunch at the lookout. It's really amazing. So bring your lunch or shop at Springwood for lunch.
Participants should also be reasonably competent bike riders. It's not a ride for completely new riders. But it's a good ride for people who are new to riding in the bush.
I also suggest we ride it at a gentle pace and wait for people at the top of hills. That way people can walk the hills if they prefer. The blue gum swamp area is a circular ride so people can do laps if they feel like it. That's one way of catering for people at different levels of fitness.
I can bring a topo map of the area.
We fondly know this ride as the Spooky School Ride...you'll see why.
I just did a google search for "blue gum swamp winmalee" and found this. It has some good info. I didn't want to tread on your patch and post it on your ride event. The info you have already added there is great.
I lived at Winmalee 15 years, or so, ago and have ridden that trail. The view from the end is fantastic. A great place for lunch.
I'm not sure whether I'll be coming on the ride but I'm thinking about it. It will come to down to what else is on that weekend.
