House-sitters available for duty!

Hi fellow cyclistesSorry to get slightly off topic here, but I'm the lookout for houses, and house-owners who might need a family of sitters to take care of their house in Sydney's Inner South West over the mid-August to end of the year period. We're a cycling family of four, and happy to look after cats, dogs, gardens, etc in exchange. Get in touch via SydCyc if you've got a place in need of sitters!MiguelSee More

Mick Mazza shutting down for good

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 12:21pm 2 Comments

Former Marrickville citizen of the year, bike rider and owner of the meeting point for the Dulwich Hill's weekend bike rides, Mick Mazza is shutting down.

Apparently Mick's landlord has jacked his rent up to $950 a week - this has been happening to business all along Marrickville Road, as real estate agents wake to the new reality of rental in Sydney's new f%^king Paddington.

Anyway, the inner west is about to lose an institution - Flickr user yewenyi has a pic …

ahh, I have fond memories of a second hand malvern star I rode into its grave around Melbourne a few years ago (ie daily Northcote to St Kilda rides). At least it had 10 gears!.

I love the thing, it has a bell, a beautfiul 70s crystal cylinders sticker on it and lovely mudguards. i'm a hoarder, and tend to take years to fix bikes, so it should be ready for when my daughter is a teen. one speed, coaster brakes, perfect (if i fix it this decade) for the local shops

That could be our little boy, he has those jammies too and a little red trike. Missing the cool trailer though! :)

That trike is a Kettler, and my son has another one, which he inherited from his big sister, which is basically a bike without pedals, and I reckon it's the reason my daughter could ride a bike w/o training wheels from the age of 3.

Dave Moulton has a brilliant post linking Evel Knievel to the development of the BMX. Worth a read
