Did you get hooked into watching the Veledrome  race coverage? I watched more than I planned. It occurred to me that it's high time SBS, which calls itself, Bike Central, devoted some substantial…Continue

Barry O'Farrell can't conceive of business men and women riding bikes to work, to the law courts (as lawyers do in Dublin)  or anywhere for that matter.  Our professionals are too busy making money…Continue

Can Cadel's win help us build a new cycling culture?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Etienne de Briquenell Jul 29, 2011. 62 Replies

I am arguing on my latest blog post that, now Cadel's victory dancing in our eyes, we are in a good place to re-imagine our whole  bike culture. We know, as vividly as we ever will, what the best of…Continue

No Bike Mirror....Suicidal?

"Bill and Dabba, I've always used the Cateye mirror on drop bar bikes (not suitable with baa-cons) http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cateye-bm-300g-race-mirror/ They are inexpensive, difficult to destroy, easy to fit and the same size as the Mirrycles.…"

"Mike, if that rider had had a mirror, it might have been viable for him to stand his ground as he could have watched the car's position continuously and pulled over at the last moment if things looked like getting too close. Without a mirror,…"

"Done! Si - yes a mirror could have helped for these accidents. For the driver following too closely, if you can see them, you can stare at them or wave them back. For when the road is too narrow, you can block the lane or get out of the way, and so…"

About Me:
I'm a bike blogger and filmmaker, promoting the European way of riding here. I am also campaigning for an exemption for Bike share bikes from MHL.

lastly, I believe bike art can help change perceptions about utility cycling especially. Hence I'm having an exhibition of such art at the Tap gallery in Darlinghurst, starting, July 4th.
