I am a 7 bike girl!
My new bike (last year) replaced my hybrid as my commuter and touring bike. I am very pleased with how the custom built and painted Europa frame turned out. Stronglight Cranks, Selle An-Atomica saddle (so comfortable), Grand Bois tyres, Mavic wheels built by Cheeky.

I have a Gitane hybrid with all sorts of different parts on it thanks to my boyfriend who just loves pimping my bike!

I also have an old style Malvern (from the guy who sells bikes at the Hub in Newtown) for getting about the inner west on the weekend - now complete with wicker basket and vintage mud guards - I heart Malvern!

Hand-me-down LeMond road bike (sometimes its great having rich friends who upgrade to a $8k bike). I totally get why people love road bikes now - they are awesome! Its like cheating:) Going fast is fun!

I also have a really old Malvern Star (Thomas - I think because the colours reminded me of the tank engine:) in amazing cosmetic condition - the rims are just beautiful but the wheels are soft and it doesn't really work. If anyone has any restoration tips - send them my way! The back pedal brakes don't work and the wheels are a bit buckled so it just rubs on the rear mudguard. But it is a thing of beauty and I love Thomas. It was owned by this guy's uncle for 70years in Queensland so there is almost no rust.

Ok so I finally got rid of my beautiful yellow bike (below) but I accidentally fell in love with this beautiful old Bennett on sale again from the guy who sells bikes at the Newtown hub bike stands. I call it Bennett. How could I resist a bike in my favourite colour? Pic of polishing and matching yellow handlebar tape to follow soon! (Though admittedly this bike has been hijacked by my boyfriend:)

I went down to Geelong for the UCI World Champs and while in Melb went to check out Pony Bikes. I shouldn't have for I fell in love with Eric. Many previous incarnations as a fixie in Sydney-I shall be assembling this into a retro road bike! And yes its blue..again

Bikes I no longer own:
A single fixed gear old yellow heavy steel bike complete with mudguards and basket that I fell in love with on eBay. Unfortunately it was way to small for me (damn sometemes being tall sucks!) so I had to polish it up and resell.

Ricardo step through - found at a jumble sale next door covered in cobwebs and in need of some tyre pumping but polished up beautifully - a steal at $10! I have now lent this to a friend after realising it really was too small for me and that I already have Malvern and that I poss have a problem with bikes overtaking the garage!

Bikes I someday hope to own:
Well in the end I just get to look at my friend riding this now I have Europa. Masi's really are nice looking bikes.

So pretty....

A custom titanium Waterford road bike is definately happening one day for me - fell in love when I saw one in San Fransisco last year....mmm shiny lugs.

About Me:
I don't like big hills much (but I am trying to learn how to love them!), love coffee, good food and big dogs. I work in an Arts/Museums institution (HHT) as a web editor and sponsorship assistant. I am also trying to do a part-time PhD in art history but I end up riding my bikes, hanging out and generally not studying on the weekends-so might have to give the books up!

Enjoyed a lovely quiet ride to La Perouse along to Watson's Bay with Nick and Adrian this morning followed by a tasty coffee at Hernandez (it never closes!). Perfect way to start Christmas if you ask me!

Hope you all have a lovely day and maybe even get some fun riding in this festive…

I have 7.5 bikes (one is shared)....but this is what I call a bicycle collection. I nearly just fell off my chair coming across this site and how beautiful these bikes are and well, thought I should share for those of you who also have this weird fascination with shiny pretty retro bike bits.

Hi Naomi,
Minerva's a great bike. I wanted a Surly crosscheck for a long time before I finally saved up and bought her from Cheeky Transport. I justified the expense by adding up how much I would have spent on bus fare after a couple of years of commuting to work on my old GT bike. You've got some pretty nice bikes yourself, I love the yellow one.

It would be fun to meet you. I'm hoping to take my daughters to the bike polo on Monday at Newtown High School. I think it starts at 1.30pm. http://www.facebook.com/events.php?ref=sb#/event.php?eid=46173966760

Hello Naomi,

Did you ride past when I was taking pictures on Wilson St the other night? You should have stopped to say hello. We are trying to shoot a nice background for an artwork we are doing for the Road/Rode exhibition in November.

We didn't get the shot we wanted though. Have to go and try again. I was amazed how many cyclists come along there.

Oh I did see you but unfortunately I missed you with my camera. I was too slow with the shutter speed. Thanks for looking at my pictures I'm glad you enjoyed them. Maybe you could have a look at my Flickr account and let me know which images you think we should use for our postcard and poster next year? Just leave a comment on the ones you like.

yep that was us. Sorry, was a bit rude of us not to say hi as we went by, not sure why I didn't do that. I know what you look like now, will keep an eye out next time.
