I live in a leafy, well established affluent suburb. I was lucky to accidentally find a house here when I first moved abck to Sydney almost 20 years ago. We have a mix of old & young, an ethnic mix & it is just a nice place to live....except........…

Facilities have to lead not follow if you want to change behaviour. If you want people to walk more you install footpaths. You don't ask them to brave the road. For the casual cyclist asking them to ride on busy roads instead of driving with no sp…

"In many major cities they have done so while keeping a progressive attitude to cars/trucks" And here's the challenge, kids. How to find the balance, and keep two different groups happy, or at least content. I like the bike path not because its pe…

?feeding the troll? thanks for your input. how many cars & trucks use this area c/with cycles, and what economic value do they carry. I have staff of 15 people in this area, two of us ride. the others have kids that need ferrying around. Bourke Rd h…

Exactly. We should stop feeding the troll now :)

I use this cycleway almost everyday, since it opened. I have cycling down Bourke Rd for some time now. I see anything from 3 to 15 other cyclists using this path each day. The number always varies depending on time and weather. Bourke Rd was a popu…

I whipped down to Bunnings the other evening on this cycle path and didn't feel unsafe in the slightest. I feel much safer being separated from the traffic. I also saw 5 cyclists travelling south at the same time as I was and then another four cycl…

Yes to safe cycling, no to dangerous and ill conceived cycleways that start in an industrial area, are poorly planned and researched, and do not add a positive net effect (ie increase transport capacity). The Bourke Road/Bowden Street section is ext…

I don't know but Jones mentioned it toward the end of the interview. I will be interested in hearing how the "debate" goes at Town Hall, if it is on at a convenient time and date I may even roll up to watch Clover do battle with Rough Trade. It does…

What is the basis of the class action? If it is the loss of a right to free use of a limited public space to park a vehicle then wouldn’t it be interesting if courts found that no such right exists ?

I would love to know what is happening with this class action against the CofS. Hopefully it will fall over.

About Me:
I produce The Environment Show. It's a strong advocate of cycling - due to the many benefits you guys already know about - health, climate, congestion, oil and making Sydney a better place to live. Where we can, we'll do our bit (to try to bring common sense to bare.)

We've already done interviews with Jan Gehl on city planning and with experts on peak oil. You can listen to interviews on our blog. And we also podcast through itunes. (We've been the top environmental podcast on itunes in Australia.)

Catch you on the road. (Actually, you'll probably be catching - and passing - me.)

New Environment Show - putting progressive city planning and peak oil experts on air to push the cause

The Environment Show is a strong advocate of cycling - due to the many benefits you guys already know about - health, climate, oil, congestion and making Sydney a better place to live. Where we can, we'll do our bit (to try to bring common sense to bare.)

We're putting to air an interview with Jan Gehl on city planning on 3rd July (this Thursday) and with experts on peak oil on the 10th July. You can listen to audio on-demand from our blog and we pod… Continue

Hi Phil,
My name is Paul and a friend and I started a business importing Dutch City bikes. We are located in Matraville. We would love to be a part of a show introducing Dutch bikes to the Australian market. You are welcome to visit us if you like.
