New Zealand bike tour December 07 January 08 - Au revoir Oz Hello Aotearoa

Posted on January 9, 2008 at 3:19pm 1 Comment

Follows is a series of post trip blog posts from our cycling trip to New Zealand from 26 Dec 07 to 5 January 08. I would have done them on the road but - well - to busy riding, exploring and drinking bloody good beer than sitting behind a computer. Heh.

It's more a series of observations and experiences in the places we visited more than a comprehensive travel journal. Also a number of tips and traps on how to get around with relative ease.

Bye for the holidays and thanks

Off to New Zealand for a couple of weeks of cycle touring in the South. Prepared for heat, snow sandflies, bikie gangs and worst of all - New Zealand drivers (having ridden motorcycles there for 10 years).

Thanks to all in our building Sydney Cyclist community for comments, thoughts, discussions an irreverent bits of cycling related detritus over the last couple of months. Look forward to the same and more next year.

Have a great holiday - safe pedalling into…

Collision blackspot

I see in the Herald this morning that the NRMA has declared the M4 / Silverwater Road intersection the worst place for collisions in NSW (@ 135 per year - bloody carnage).

I can't help feeling a bit sad at the stupidity of this dreadful statistic. I ride through that intersection twice a day going onto and off the M4 as part of my commute for the last 2… Continue

Hey Richard

It was great to meet you last night, always good to meet up with people you "know" online. Thanks for your feedback about the site too, I'll do some writing to make things a little clearer.

yeah this is my full body armour, I always ride into trees so I should really do something about the eye patches.
