Cycle with the wonderful Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club 'Saturday Slowies' and the very friendly Marrickville to Sydney CBD Bike Bus. In my case, it's definitely about the journey, rather than the speed to the destination!
My name is Victor. Like you I really enjoy the cycle journey. I saw on your profile that you Cycle with the Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club 'Saturday Slowies'. I wanted to ask you if any sort of fee has to be paid to join this ride with DHBC or can anyone just show up and join the ride?
Thanks very much for your help, and great to meet you through this site!
Hi Victor, there's no fee as such, we just want to encourage everyone to cycle with DHBC. Once you've cycled with us for a while, if you feel you would like to contribute to the club - you can pay a $20 club membership fee and a $50 fee for a 'Ride-it' membership of Cycling Australia. But no one asks you for any money up front. Feel free to come along, we meet at Mick Mazza's bicycle shop in Marrickville on Saturday mornings at 6.30am, cycle to Centennial Park, do a few laps of the park, and we're back in Marrickville at Marrickville Road cafe for coffee & muffins by 8.45am. Cheers, Suzanne (www.dhbc.org.au)
Hi Suzanne- just in case I don't see you the Bike Bus this week I thought I'd catch you here. Im wondering about the Slowies ride each Saturday morning. It sounds great, but I can't see me getting to Marrickville by 6.30am (yes, slack I know!) Is there any option to meet the group along the way, or is that just to difficult to coordinate? Hope you're well! Kate
Hi Kate, you can meet us - we get to Centennial Park around 7.15am and leave the park (from Moore Park gate) at 8am to head back to Marrickville. We are quite distinctive in our red 'join the cycling revolution' jerseys!
