"Peter, did you actually notice any improvement in shifting or noise or anything when you put the Ultegra on? I currently have a Sora RD and can see that 105 or Ultegra should have better rigidity and last longer before going wonky. Do they?"

"Look for Shimano Sora 9 speed medium cage will be the cheapest option and will work fine. Original Tiagra suit 9 speed with triple is very hard to find."

"In addition........ apparently the 10 speed works fine on the 9 speed bikes. look here. http://www.bikeforums.net/archive/index.php/t-640146.html If you think , its only the shifter that determines how much the derailleur moves."

"You won't find a current generation Tiagra 9 speed derailleur - all 4600 Tiagra stuff is 10 speed. That is an issue, because a 10 speed chain is narrower than the 9 speed chain, so the pulleys in the new derailleur are not the correct size for…"

New rear derailleur for Trek 7.6FX Hybrid bike

I recently fell off my bike and damaged the rear derailleur on my Trek 7.6FX Hybrid bike. This bike has 3 chain rings and a 9 speed cassette. The existing rear derailleur is a Shimano Tiagra. Can anyone please advise where I can find a compatible and suitable replacement? I have looked on CRC and Wiggle, but cannot find the equivalent model. I could only find the Shimano Tiagra for 10 speed. There is also a short / medium cage option that I don't understand. Any thoughts or suggestions would be…See More

"Companies with local addresses might exist that provide a service (for a fee) to ship on the goods to Australia - mentioned in the article for US, so hopefully one exists in UK (for ChainReaction and Wiggle)."
